How do I reset the default access password on the DI-624. I have already tried the instructions offered on the D-Link website at http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=996&question=DI-514%20/%20DI-524%20/%20DI-524_revD%20/%20DI-524_revE%20/%20DI-604%20/%20DI-614+%20/%20DI-624%20/%20DI-624S%20/%20DI-754%20/%20DI-764%20/%20DI-774%20/%20DI-784%20/%20DWL-900AP+%20/%20DWL-1000AP+%20/%20DWL-6000AP%20/%20DI-804V%20/%20DI-514_revC%20/%20DWL-900AP+_revC%20/%20DWL-800AP+_revB with no success. How do I reset the password so that I can secure the wireless password?

By the way, my parents have had this gateway/router for two months before their "techie" son (me) came home from college to protect their connection. I'm afraid that somebody has logged onto the wireless connection and messed something up intentionally.

The whole point is, that after following that procedure, that password doesn't work.

Are you sure you pressed the reset button for 10 seconds or more? You should see the status and power lights flash off for a moment, then turn back on, because the only thing that would save you would be the reset button.....!!!
I hope it would work..........?
Anyways, whenever you reset your admin password, I recommend you enable MAC address filtering too, so intruders will not even have a chance of accessing your Internet, even if they crack your password. To enable that, go to the "advanced" tab, then select "Filters." There's a selection further down called "MAC Address Filtering" so click that. Then, select all of the computers from the drop-down list that are yours, and then make sure you select something called "Only allow computers from this list" so the computers that you selected are the only ones that are authorized to use this router, and LAN, and the Internet. Finally, click OK. Now, your D-Link router is configured for maximum security!!!(Of course, you'll have to add each individual l computer you would like to authorize, so that might be a problem if you have a lot of computers.)

There should be a reset button at the back of that router..
it's like a fail safe switch that resets everything if anything goes terribly wrong with your configurations.

If you did that procedure then it has the default password right now. So just do the procedures to change the password instead of resetting it:
open your browser;
go to the admin page, http://192.168.0.1
Give a user of Admin and leave the password blank.
Then To change the administrative password, enter a new password in the Admin section.

To change the user password, enter a new password in the User section.

Click Apply then click Continue to save the settings.

There should be a re-set button on the rear of the router. Get a toothpick or a needle and press it. All the small LED lights on the front will light up, and that means it has successfully been re-set. Now type in http://192.168.0.1 and create the new password.

I think I got what you mean... Is your problem "the network key you want to set cannot be implemented?"

The answer to this is just make sure the number of characters in the password you input corresponds to the depth of encryption you want to implement... Example, 12 characters (alphaneumeric) for 64 bit, 30 characters for 128 bit, etc... The number of characters i mentioned is just an example. Consult your D-Link manual for the actual numbers. Cheers...
