I guess because either you don't know anything about conservatives or you don't know anything about Nazis.

Maybe this will relieve your confusion.

The confusion began with communist propogada spread by no less than Josef Stalin. "To begin with, he attached the label “fascist” to the Third Reich, thereby covering up the socialist nature –and name –of the ruling party, the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, which sported a completely socialist agenda. "

Many to still don't understand that the Nazi's were socialist.

"Nothing has been consistently harmful as the fallacy that “fascism” (itself a misnomer) and communism represent opposite extremes. However traditional, however well established, the use of “right” and “left” as political designations serves only to confuse. …….fascism/nazism and bolshevism/socialism are all branches of the same tree. They cannot possibley represent “right” and “left” respectively since, under proper scrutiny, they all reveal the same basic characteristics. In this, we refer to no less an authority than Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who wrote an entire book on the topic and called it “Leftism: Communism’s Infantile Disorder.” Indeed the choices Americans must make would be a great deal easier if “truth in labeling” were applied to the political process. But since confusing terminology has always been effective as a weapon, any attempt to recast the political vocabulary would meet with massive resistance…"

Bottom line is you've been duped by leftist propaganda to believe that Nazi's and leftist are opposites, when the truth is Nazi's are leftist too. Sorry to break it to you this way. But it's true.

many of the answers above me seem like a triggered responses. your question, although somewhat vague, is valid. the problem is, the conservatives you likely are talking about aren't in any way similar or representative of the conservative party of barry goldwater days, when conservatives stood for fiscal responsibility, constitutional adherence, smaller government and bootstrap mentality. we don't have that right now. what we have is an administration largely focused on stripping away constitutional rights under the guise of 'freedom,' an act that surely makes the country's forefathers turn in their graves. this administration's actions actually mirror much of what stalin, hitler, castro, hussein and other leaders have done (spying, patriot act, larger government, intensifying gap between rich/poor, etc.), so, for the post that read 'liberals remind me of communists,' its writer would benefit from a history lesson to see that this administration is much closer to communism than any liberal president. oh, and hitler was considered a liberal (historically). the spectrum between political parties is more like a color wheel: the ideologies often cross paths when at extremes. so, as a conservative, i don't take offense that you feel conservatives remind you of nazis; however, i encourage you -- and everyone -- to look less at the one-word labels and catchphrases or talking points, and instead focus of the practices of this government in comparison to historical governments. 'conservative' may not be the correct label for what's governing this country right now.

There are some similarities. Nazis wanted to stifle all opposition to their opinions and decrees, just like conservatives in this country. Adolf Hitler was positive that he never made a mistake, and stayed the course in World War II, in spite of the fact that he was leading his country down the road to ruin, something like what's going on here.

The big difference is that the Nazis didn't believe in religion, whereas the American conservatives want to cram their religion down everyone's throat. They believe in freedom of religion as long as it's their religion and only theirs.

Fortunately their hypocrites invariably reveal themselves. Ralph Reed comes to mind. He was a great right wing ultra-conservative fundamentalist Christian nut job who got a little too close to Jack Abramoff. The electorate finally saw through him and sent him down to a crushing defeat. He's a good example of a sterling, compassionate conservative.

One thing that you will notice is that conservatives always refer to anyone who disagrees with them as "stupid" or "a communist." They're so transparent that they do make me (and the rest of America) laugh at them and their illustrious leader. Election day will be great this year, won't it? Ralph Reed is just the beginning.

Because of people like Me M who always spews forth his verbal diarrhea after filling himself with right-wing lies.

Oh, and there's that part about how many of them want to take away the right of dissent of their right-wing government.

Oh, and then there's the fact that they call anyone slightly to their left a Communist.

Oh, and

Okay, I'll shut up now....Something a Neo-Con wouldn't do.

(And personally, I stress the difference between a Conservative and a Neo-Conservative...Most of the people in charge now and their rabid supporters aren't Conservative at all).

Dammed if I know... Nazis are leftist (National Socialist Party) and were huge on gov. control. conservatives are against both. So perhaps you should study a little history before you ask any more stupid questions.
