I'm in the Washington, D.C. area and would like to travel with my family. My wife and I discuss swapping homes with someone so we can see a new place economically (cheaply). Have you done this or know anyone who has?

♡Well, I live in Japan, does that count? I own a home in the Karuizawa resort area and we have friends who own homes in the Mt. Fuji and Nasu Kogen area. We always arrange to swap houses for vacations and events. It's a good system if you have people you can trust. These are our 'second homes' or 'vacation' homes in all cases so they are usually always available. (*^o^*) It works for us! (I'm an American living in Japan.)♡ My brother and sis in the US swap homes for vacations too from So. Cal to N. Cal. Good, economical way to travel! Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

I knew someone who swapped not only houses, but also jobs for 6 months. My friend lived in Baltimore and she switched houses with someone in Melbourne, Australia. Since it was a professional job exchange, it was a pretty involved trade.

i had an aunt who did it. they realized that sometimes other families dont make the "house swap" so fair. it would be best to know the family rather than someone who may jip you.
