I keep experiencing these little "tugs" in my lower abdomen that feel a lot like someone pulling taffy inside of me. It's not a "pain" persay, just a nagging sort of tugging. That is the only way that I can describe it. We had had nightmares conceiving and finally it's worked. I am excited and yet find that I can't really even be happy yet for all the fears I have of something going wrong. I am completely, and irrationally perhaps, afraid of it ending up being an eptopic pregnancy, or having a miscarriage before the 12 week mark, etc. I have read that it's somewhat normal to feel strange things down there as the uterus begins to change, etc. I was just wondering if anyone has had this experience and could shed some light on it for this first time mom. Thanks.

It all sounds OK to me, and I have had 1 miscarriage, I ectopic pregnancy and two healthy pregnancies. While it can be uncomfortable, the tugging and stretching feeling is completely normal. An ectopic causes SEVERE pain -- the doubling over-get-me-to-the ER kind. Try to relax and enjoy this. You are experiencing a miracle!

I remember having the same thing with my first and remember wondering exactly the same thing. In fact, sometimes if I stretched the wrong way, it actually GOT a bit painful (which of course makes you panic, right?). I was told what the other gal was--that it was the muscles stretching. And I a very healthy, very uneventful pregnancy. I wouldn't worry yet.

Congrats, BTW!! First time pregnancies are such a blessing and a curse. Such a blessing but I remember worrying over every little thing. "Is this normal?" was my favorite thing to ask the doctor. lol Sounds very normal to me, hon. :)

You are experiencing round ligament stretching. This is normal and completely to be expected as you begin to grow. The uterus has already increased in size significantly, though baby is still very small. You are feeling muscles stretch that only do in pregnancy. Relax and enjoy the growth of your baby bump!!!

Southern California Edison, our electric company, puts fliers in with their bills about the effects of EMF (electro magnetic fields) on the body. The scientists who have studied the effects do conclude that there could be a link between EMF and miscarriage. What this means to you is you will want to try to stay away from appliances that produce a high amount of EMF like the vacuum cleaner, can opener, hair dryer, flourescent lighting, electric clothes dryer... anything with a strong electric motor. God bless your journey.

I have good news and bad news...

The good news is I was pregnant I had the same symptoms. I was told it was the muscles expanding to make room for baby.

The bad news is, I had a miscarraige. I honestly don't think it had anything to do with that feeling though..
