Take better notes in class, and spend more time studying and memorizing the important information in your book. Also, ask your teacher what kind of things are going to be on the quiz and what you should study.

Yes. When you take tests, it works best to be calm and to not think that the test is important at all. If you focus on getting every question right, and stress out, even if you know the material it will escape you. Be calm; if you miss one or two questions it won't matter. Also, skip questions you are having trouble with and answer the easier ones first. Keep your cool, and try to put yourself into the perspective of the person who wrote the test. This should make your test scores better.
