Interesting question. At the moment I have a pretty good job and no family life and that seams to be alright. So I would choose number 1. However if you have a crappy job and a happy family it is still good and maybe better then the first alternative. You don't spend more than 8 hours at work anyway.

A wonderful family and a crappy job/career. But I have a wonderful family and I love my job. I'm a SAHM right now. In a couple months I might have a crappy job that I'll hate.

I would rather have a happy family because its where the love is, you only have to werk a few hours until you retire, and no matter what your family will always be your family. Your kids would grow up and learn that you should get into a career you enjoy, then start a loving happy family instead of having one or the other, and to know you raised a happy kid is the best thing in the world cuz they can go on making others lives happy

I'd rather have the wonderful family. I can be with them after this life while a job is only temporal. I have had jobs that I hate and dread, but I absolutely love my family and so I know what I can handle from some personal experience. But, I'd rather have a low-end job I enjoy rather than a high-paying job I dread going to. Stress and anxiety are just not worth a big paycheck for me.
