I'm sure all actors have doctors that check them for this.

Well, I don't think it's a major epidemic. and it's close to impossible to get herpes from a kiss. It would involve so many co-inkydents that its a million to one shot. I'm sure most actors want to have a fresh mouth for the kissing scenes just out of respect for each other.
Nother thing, look how many actors have fallen for their co-kisser..so they must have had a fresh clean mouth to begin with.
You have germophobia.?

If there's a kissing scene, you'd probably want to get them tested for halitosis, herpes, sores, bronchitis, the lot. If it turns out that they have any of the above, it's probably prudent not to continue with the scene. At that point, I guess you talk to the director and figure things out from there.

Herpes is HSV1 or HSV2 depending on the strain which is a virus. That is not the same thing as a canker sore (aphthous ulcer - which occurs in the mouth - not on it- is non transferrable and is not a virus).
