Could be a couple of different problems. Either the clutch is sticking causing extra friction or the belt is loose and needs to be replaced or the tension arm and spring are not putting enough pressure on the belt. Most likely the belt needs to be replaced.

the belt pulley sounds like its locking up the bearing in the pulley is locking to the bolt thats holding it in place it happened to me

i worked on them for 3 years for greves tv and appliances, the transmission is going out.
