Control of the media - it's been famously said that freedom of the press belongs to those who own one.

You just need to bombard everyone with arguments for your side of the question all the time until everyone knows them by heart. Whenever an argument for something different comes up, people will have never heard of it and think it's crazy, unworkable, or too confusing.

It's even more effective when you present "both" sides of the argument, while really just limiting the argument to two sides that both agree with your basic principles anyway. So it looks like you're balanced when you're really not. People living in dictatorships may be more skeptical of the press because it only presents one side. People in capitalist "democracies" are less skeptical, because they see the illusion of many sides in the reporting.

I don't think it was a trick at all. They picked issues that would make people get up and vote for GOP candidate. They were just better at making people outraged about their opponent's stance on hot button issues. It was just very aggressive politics.

It doesn't matter how many are opposed to GOP if they don't go out and vote.

Vote with your wallet, not on ridiculous social issues! That's how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer!
And vote for breaking up the gerrymandering of the Congressional districts! That weakens big money's grip of corruption!

What?! How is that possible? Aren't liberals the more intelligent of the two? So how could we have possibly tricked you unless, of course, you aren't the more intelligent? And what interests have we tricked you into voting for? Maybe you're just the one easily duped liberal.

They convinced you they were good christians. and were compassionate. They would rule as Jesus would because they prayed everyday and the almighty would guide them. you couldn't expect them to tell they were interested in money and those that contribute to the party. If politicans told the truth they wouldn't get elected; like you are going to have to pay more in taxes, because we have a debt to pay and a war to finance.
