In these wacky times we now live in, I wonder what value is given to life.

The leadership we live under doesn't seem to value the lives of innocent people.

I don't see where the administration is overly concerned over lives being lost in skirmishes.

I don't see where life is protected enough or cherished as it should be in many public places, and particularly on the open road.

What ideas can you come up with that would put life on a pedestal
and be adored rather than degraded?

Life is precious, it should be held in the highest esteem. I think the biggest problem right now is a total lack of respect for others. We had a drive by shooting at an apartment complex in my hometown last week, a five year old little girl died in her bed. She was just asleep in her bed, the victim of some random shooting between two rival gangs over drugs. I live in the country in MS, this happened here, it doesn't just go on in the "big" cities.
I truly believe that we, as a people have got to start to demand that the leaders of our towns and communities start dealing aggressively with these problems. I guess I am getting old, but I can remember a time when we didn't lock the doors to our houses here at night. Now we have chains and deadbolt locks on the doors and bars on the windows. It makes me sort of sad to think about what we have come to. I think that the only way to achieve change is for the people to start to become proactive in their communities and not just sit idly by while children are shot in their beds because some low life's are fighting over drug turf.

You are right to question this. many, even those in leadership roles don't know the importance of life. Even the Bible says there is a time for war. though many wars were called and started by man, not God.
It is hard when dealing with issues of millions of people and being able to focus on just the few.I believe it takes the Spirit of God in a person for them to truly understand the meaning and importance of life.Without it , it is merely a focus on creating the desired outcome, with life in general, not the issue.

I'm not sure what I would do to promote life to the nation as a whole. I teach my child to respect, help and care for others. I try to teach her to think how she would feel in some other persons place. We volunteer in a soup kitchen and in our nursery at church. We help in a childrens group. I think that between abortion and medical euthanasia and the wars and violence on TV that people just don't put a lot of value on life anymore. It's sad. I think we just have to do what we can do in our part of the world and hope that we influence others to do the same.

Life is of inestimable value. So is freedom. Sometimes lives must be sacrificed in order to maintain freedom.

In societies where life is devalued, a general degradation of the culture occurs, often leading to dictatorships, as in the case of Nazi Germany. In that country life became devalued, which led to a systematic eradication of one particular group.

The abolishment of euthanasia and changes to current U.S. abortion laws would be a positive step in the direction of esteeming life.

I b elieve all life matters. I also believe you should not take a life, no matter what. Thats where karma kicks in. I save the lives of flies I see drowning in my dogs drinking water etc... No life is too small for me to save, as their lives mean just as much as mine. I am a lover not a fighter.

Anything with a nervous system feels pain the way we do.

Every living thing is animated by the same life that animates our own bodies.

Life is the point of life, and to destroy it without regard is to contradict your own essence. (Consuming other life is how we stay alive, though.)

That ring around an earthworm's middle isn't a pain-free spot. It's the worm's genitals.

Those who dominate, control, and destroy life do so at the expense of their own ability to savor life.

They say "sacrifice the few to save the many". While ideally we would like to not sacrifice any, this just isn't possible for all situations. No reason will ever be good enough when you lose someone you care about.

Life is all that matters in the world. There is no price that you can put on life.
