Good question! Somehow the brain has periods when it is active - I'm not sure why.

I have had some strange dreams . . .

Dreams have been here as long as mankind. Back in the Roman Era, striking and significant dreams were submitted to the Senate for analysis and interpretation.

Everybody dreams. EVERYBODY! Simply because you do not remember your dream does not mean that you did not dream.

Dreams are indispensable. A lack of dream activity can mean protein deficiency or a personality disorder.

We dream on average of one or two hours every night. And we often even have 4-7 dreams in one night.

Blind people do dream. Whether visual images will appear in their dream depends on whether they where blind at birth or became blind later in life. But vision is not the only sense that constitutes a dream. Sounds, tactility, and smell become hypersensitive for the blind and their dreams are based on these senses.

The word dream stems from the Middle English word, dreme which means "joy" and "music".

Studies have shown that our brain waves are more active when we are dreaming than when we are awake.

Dreamers who are awakened right after REM sleep, are able to recall their dreams more vividly than those who slept through the night until morning.

Physiologically speaking, researchers found that during dreaming REM sleep, males experience erections and females experience increased vaginal blood flow - no matter what the content of the dream. In fact, "wet dreams" may not necessarily coincide with overtly sexual dream content.

Dreams come during the REM stage of sleep. it reflects some past expeiences, memories and some future to come. Don't you dream about something and said this is deja vu ?All dreams have some form of interpretaions. Most are pleasant. The brain is like a computer assessing all the information. some of my dearly departed relatives come to me in a dream. It could be some form of escapism from what's here and now.

The brain never sleeps. It takes the information we've gathered that day or whenever and tries to make something out of it: our sub-conscience. That's why are dreams seem so odd.
They are combined with all the things we've encountered.

I'm not a scientist, just me, but analyze your dreams and you'll find symbols, missing the bus, boat whatever means frustration, stuff like that.

Sometimes when you are affected emotionally you have certain dreams, like falling off a cliff, or forgetting to revise for exams and you have to sit the exam straightway, kissing someone. These kind of dreams just reveals your state of emotion so don't really read anything from them.

Sometimes I have dreams of certain places, like a view of a street or an office. These dreams are glimpses of the future. I've had these dreams before and yes they came true.

Actually the bible says we have dreams of the future.

dreaming is a side effect of neural activity. And no, sometimes the brain recalls events or memories from long term memory or short term memory, but sometimes it pieces together things that were not thought of in the conscious mind. Ohhh, dont I sound cool.
