I have been onto the official site of chelski and they are not saying anything about Matthew Gallas, his photo is still on the players first team except he has no number next to him, maybe that's because Michael Ballack has been given the number 13, which was Matthew`s number. I also tried to find out if Matthew has any time left on his contract to chelski, I can not find out anything, so I am afraid I can not help you with your question, but I hope I have giving you some useful facts about him.

Of course he can, and I am afraid he will.
Why did a professional club like Chelsea make a foolish mistake, giving his number to Ballack? Don't they see Gallas as one of Chelsea's success factor during the last two seasons?
If I were him, I would be mad too, because they have shown no respect.
