yes jeolousy is a key factor,,,the yankees almost always manage to kick boston's keister when all the marbles are at stake...the 2004 season was a fluke..how the sox managed that comeback after being down 3-1 is beyond me...

When Roger Clemens said he would retire a few years back....he was supposed to have played his last game against the Red Sox wearing a New York Yankees uniform.
When Clemens walked off of the field, the Red Sox fans gave Clemens a standing ovation. Clemens played for the Red Sox before playing for the Yankees and while wearing a Yankees uniform, the Red Sox fans showed a great amount of class and made me feel very proud to be a fan of baseball.
We all have the right to support our teams. Don't be too intimidated by a rivalry as strong as the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. That's baseball.

I definitely agree with you. Red Sox fans are filled with a lot more hate then Yankee fans, and it stems from having an inferiority complex from not winning a World Series for so long, while the Yankees won 26 between 1923-2000. I thought that it would change after Boston finally won a World Series, with help from being a wild card, but Red Sox fans are still very much intimidated by Yankees fans, and still have that inferiority complex. I also think that they are just much meaner in general.

I agree with wwfrules325; I am a Red Sox fan; and when I went to Yankee Stadium a few years ago, the fans treated me like **** when I wore my Red Sox stuff.....so it does go BOTH WAYS. Please don't try and make Red Sox fans meaner than Yankees fans, that a whole lot of bull**** and you know it!!! This rivalry is a heated one and their are good fans on both sides and bad fans as well. My roomate in college is a huge Yankees fan, and we are very close friends to this day, plus I was the best man at his wedding. So Red Sox fans and Yankee fans can co-exist. and no I'm not jealous of the Yankees, If I'm correct, who had the biggest comeback in playoff history two years ago???? I think we all know the answer to that question!!!!!

Red Sox fans are mean to New York, sure. It comes with rivalary. However, people were VERY mean to me in Yankee stadium as a girl wearing a Red Sox T-shirt. So it definitely works both ways! I know it probably doesn't seem like it when you are at your home stadium, but trust me it's the truth. I've gone to about 5 or 6 other stadiums and always had fun. But at Yankee Stadium people were just plain old rude. So the jealousy works both ways. After all, who most recently won a world series :)

purple Sox followers are no longer to any extent further whining approximately their pathetic success. Yankee followers are much less stressful than they have been final twelve months as a results of fact A-Rod has performed previous the NYC media harassment. the actuality is, the respond is possibly to alter earlier hard paintings Day. The final week in August at Yankee Stadium will weigh down the Yankees or terrorize the purple Sox. And the only element extra stressful than a demanding purple Sox fan is an ungrateful Yankee fan. If i pick now, this is the american fan who's maximum stressful.

I'm a yankee fan but in all fairness we are not exactly saints when red sox fans are in town either. I remember an incident when i went to a Yankee game & these fans stole a Red Sox fans cap & threw it into the field.

Quit whining. Leave your hat at home, and stay out of Boston. We hate the Yankee's fans, and you hate us. (Red Sox Fans)

Because if Red Sox fans weren't mean to Yankee fans, it wouldn't be the great rivalry that it is.
Without the fans in a rivalry with one another, then it would only be another Yankees-Red Sox matchup. Drunken Cubs fans getting in fights with drunken Cardinal fans is what makes the Cubs-Cardinals rivalry great.
