Because their burning desire to be different is curbed by the even greater desire not to be ostracised from their society.

Most "rebels" are in fact just conforming to another social group... the "rebellious group", defined by not being "normal" - i.e. not all dressing exactly the same as the "normal" fashion, which leads to them all dressing exactly the same, on the opposite side of the spectrum

GREAT question! I teach those soul-searching lemings and wonder that on a daily basis.....All I know is that I wish I'd thought of putting 'Princess' in rhinestones on a pink t-shirt...and how do I profit from pants down to the knees?.....
