You may be trying for a job you are not qualified for or you may be asking too high a salary. Be sure to dress appropriately. Accept a lower salary if you have to and you can possibly get future increases. In the meantime, you have money coming in and you can still be applying elsewhere. People tend to hire someone who is currently working before someone unemployed.

It could be a great number of possibilities. The unemployment for CA is growing from what it used to be. Tips: research interview questions-you can google the term-and find out how you should answer interview questions posed to you when and if you do get called for an interview. Update your resume and customize it for every job that you apply for-mainly the objective section if the jobs are in different lines of work. You want to make sure you include keywords from the job flyer or classified ad in your resume, especially in the objective area or your previous job history job duty explanations. And always be honest. They do perform background checks and call references more nowadays so don't lie and say you gave 2 weeks notice when you just quit without giving that employer a chance to fill your position, and likewise for other situations that are grey-area like that. (Not saying you did-just using that situation as an example.) And ALWAYS-dress nicely. Even if it's 100 degrees outside-wear a nice dress suit. Look job-site attractive, not like you're going out on the town afterward.

Have you updated your resume? Have you tried your local temp agencies for some part-time work? Have you gone to job fairs? Try exhausting all of your possible options of things you can do. Then go to the Help Wanted ads and start circling stuff that you're qualified to do. Call up those companies and find out more information about the job. Send your resume over to them if they want it and then wait or schedule an interview.

Good luck!

Either looking in the wrong places or being too picky.

be positive and think about what you are doing right. When you are unsuccessful with an application ask why. Take the feedback and work with it.
