every time i talk to him i think he gets the wrong idea..one time he called me and i told him i didnt like him...then he started crying...should i stay away from him?

You already told him once. Maybe you need to tell him one more time. If he can't accept it and take you as a friend then you need to distance yourself from him. Don't call him and tell him, tell him face to face not in front of a crowd, but alone let him down easy we see he cries anyway you can't stop that. It's a life lesson

Thats sad. But its ok you could still be his friend and eventually he'll get the idea that u really don't like him. But its ok i've been in that situation a lot of times.

Your best bet is to tell him that he is a nice person, but that you do not like him "that way". And then you should probably not talk to him, because he might be too sensitive and take it the wrong way.
