Anywhere..... The main problem is, the cheaper the horse, the more expensive (time and money wise) it's going to be to keep it. Don't be silly and buy a horse because it's cheap. You will pay for it later in other ways. Maybe heartache, maybe injury- I don't know. Save up for a bit longer, that way you can focus on getting the right horse for you, instead of having to focus on the dollar sign attached.

You could always lease a horse to keep you going until then, or even work at a riding establishment in your spare time.

Trust me, I know how you feel. I had to work for free to be around horses for about 6 years before I could afford one of my own. It can be hard, but you need to really think about your future here.

Good Luck:) Hope you get a great horse that suits you perfectly.

The purchase price is the cheapest part of owning a horse.Sorry to rain on your parade ,but if you can't afford to purchase one you can't afford one all together. They need a lot of upkeep and do cost a lot of money.I do a lot of horse rescue and I get free horses all the time. There is no such thing LOL Usually the cheaper the horse the more money it costs for upkeep as they tend to need more care. Not all the time, but most of the time.
If you are really serious about getting a horse, visit your local horse rescue. They can help you find a horse and help you understand how much work they take. They also will take back the horse if you can no longer take care of it. If you e-mail me your location I can put you in touch with a rescue near you.

Try your local? livestock auction barn. Not a registered horse sale. You may save an older horse from going to slaughter! I'd advise you to take an experianced horse owner with you though- it CAN be kind of a crap shoot! You get what U pay 4- but sometimes you get lucky. I've bought a LOT of horses at the sale over the years, a few bad, most GOOD horses.

The horse may be cheap, but you better be ready to take care of it properly, and that isn't always cheap. Try a horse rescue or some kind of adoption agency.

Try your local horse rescue, they are very affordable.
You'll have to prove you can care for the animal and have a decent property to house it.

Or if you are a really experienced horse person you can buy a mustang and have it started for you or start it yourself.
BLM. com is the site for mustang sales- they tend to range from $500+, but you again have to pass the inspections.

Check local stables in the area. Some people might need to seel the horse because they can't afford it anymore.

buying the horse is the cheapest thing. after that u have to pay for its stable fee, blankets, feed, vet, shots, saddles, farrier ( the person that trims there hooves), and lots of other things. sorry to burst your bubble but its true. horses r like the most exspensive animal ever.

try adopting one from C.A.N.T.E.R. or T.U.R.F. Also, Kentucky is opening a new type of stable for horses that people cant afford anymore and dont want to send to the slaughter hose. Tyr there.
