A deviated septum, which means that the part that separates the two nostrils is crooked. sinusitis. dry and swollen nostrils like from a cold or indoor winter heat. habitual use of nasal spray can actually result in a rebound stuffy nose.

It could be a deviated nasal septum or it could be blockages in your sinuses or even nasal polyps. I had that problem and at night when i'd lay down i kept feeling a lot of drainage going down the back of my thraot. I had many sinus infections and took several antibiotics that never helped. I had to have sinus surgery to remove the blockages and they also found a polyp. This may or may not be your problem, but if it continues to be a problem for you or if you've suffered with it for a while, you should talk to your doctor or see a ear,nose, throat dr who specializes in that. if frequent could be allergies. simple cold,sinusitis,septal deviation, etc are other possibilities.would need more info to help more.
