Israel has been planning this offensive for many months so it is just an excuse to say that it is in response to the kidnapping of 2 of its soldiers (who themselves are to be used as bargaining tools in an attempt to exchange prisoners kidnapped by Isreal).

I believe that the main strategy is to discredit Hezbollah's violent actions and to expose it's link with Iran.
In further demonizing Iran this will better serve as a prelude to a military strike against Tehran when Israel has gained sufficient sympathy (through propoganda) from the international community.
The Lebanon offensive also serves to draw attention away fom Isreali massacres of Palestinians in Gaza and occupied territories daily.

Israel's deliberate targeting of civilian population in the Lebanon (as a quarter of the population has been displaced) appears to backfire against the Israeli propoganda objective and as such the rest of the world simply does not believe a word of Israel's explanation.
Israel uses high tech guided missiles and bombs guided by Military Intelligence officers on the ground. They simply don't miss and their is no confusion over their intended target.
t is difficult to understand how the USA can object as it is supplying most of the ordnance which is killing Lebanese civilians as I write.
There is even a co-ordinated effort by the Israeli government to encourage its citizens to flood forums like this with pro Israel postings in an attempt to change international opinion. This is a gross miscalculation and inefective.
Your suggestion that "Jews are trying to start WW3" is not helpful and you should be aware that there are many Jews around the world who passionately dissagree with the actions of the Israeli government and the injustice of the massacres of Lebanese civilians and the terrorizing of the Palestinian population in occupied territories.
Of course Olmert is guilty of war crimes but he will never face prosecution. If the UN wants to attempt to have any (percieved) influence over Israel it cannot afford to antagonise Israel.

The UN is unlikely to seek to contain or attack Israel militarily and prefers a policy of appeasement similar to that afforded to Nazi Germany in the 1930's.

The main reason for this lack of will amongst the UN will be fear of Israel's ever growing arsenal of Weapons of Mass Destruction including Nuclear, Chemical and Biological weapons. Israel also has intercontinental ballistic missiles to deliver WMD warheads and additionaly has submarines in order to deliver a nuclear or chemical/biological payload anywere in the world. These are only offensive weapons and Despite Israel's assertion of its right to defend itself these weapons cannot be considered defensive.
Of particular concern is Israels devopment of its (genocidal )biological ethnicaly targetted weapon designed to wipe out populations (determined by their race or "Bio - Ethnic Cleansing).
This particular weapon is a potential threat to the whole world and is only likely to be used in a doomsday scenario. However the Israeli military has previously used chemical weapons in anger and is known to experiment on captured Palestinians at its biological research facility (despite denials).
Hezbollah is (equally) targeting Israeli civilian population with less success.
It is difficult to see how Hizbollah may be stopped except perhaps on their terms, so negotiation must be the key to peace, unpallatable and as unlikely as that may seem.
Conflict with terrorist organisations has never been a success and negotiation is the only way for a peaceful solution, assuming that Israel really does want peace, and that in itself is another question.

There is a huge difference between Israel and Hezbollah. Hezbollah targets civilians while Israel is targeting people that are hiding among civillians. By hiding among civillians, Hezbollah achieves two things. First off, they are well hidden from Israeli warplanes. Second, every time civillians die, the world turns on Israel. Eventually, the world including the UN will force a ceasefire that will last until another terrorist blows up a bus and we start again at square one. Israel wants a UN peacekeeping force because the terrorists and Israel can't coexist without a third party acting as a buffer.

Israel would never kill innocent civillians on purpose. Hezbollah blends in with the civillians, to blame Israel when a bomb explodes. Hezbollah terrorists are nothing but barbaric. I can't understand why the world is mad at Israel. The less terrorists the more peace! The UN is a humanitarian organization and only holds the peace but would kill if necessary.

Hezbollah is attempting to be the same thing as the civilian population. That creates problems as to who is the real victim.

Your question implies that you fear the UN forces disarming the Hezbollah. But that would be the single most beneficial thing for the citizens as they could then turn their energies towards constructive goals in society instead of being used as the cannon fodder of the Iranian government.

I hope the best for you but if you don't learn to live in peace with the Israelis you will have a short life. And no one will grieve over your self destructive death.

Ok, you have an ignorant on here, and it's good because we ignorants don't understand the politics of it all and only see what is going on.

Israel is bombing Lebanon and the world is standing by watching - the world is saying carry on Israel because we agree but we can't say it openly, so we will take our time to stop you.

In the meantime, I see children, women and men being killed that have nothing to do with the armed forces. Why the hell don't these people fight the governments instead of civilians?

I see the UN as a freaking joke, what the hell do they do? Nobody takes any notice of them!!

Israel warned the two Hezbollah and the civilians to circulate away earlier they took action. The terrorists concealed at the back of women persons and young ones on a similar time as firing rockets into Isreal. They care no longer with regard to the persons of Israel They refused ton supply up their objective as a results of fact the entire destruction of Israe and stay in peace beside it. Israel . is in simple terms no longer destroyed with the aid of all people or something. those cowards cover between civilians as a results of fact they're afraid to combat their foe on equivalent words.

Will the u,n. complete the wholesale killing of the remaining Hezbollah?

One can only hope.

Actually, the u.n., as usual, isn't going to do anything but pass more resolutions, which mean nothing.

But, let's hope the ISRAELIS complete the wholesale killing of the remaining Hezbos. That would be fantastic...

And the fact is, these radical Muslims WANT to die for their faith..they WANT to send their kids to die for their faith... what's wrong with the Israelis helping them along a little bit?

Your premise that Israel targets civilians is wrong. It would be nice if the UN would enforce Resolution 1559 calling for the disarming of Hezbollah but I doubt they have the resolve to enforce it.

Uh, WHO started this conflict? SAY AGAIN?

Who conducted the kidnapping of Israel soldiers within Israeli borders?

Who dug a tunnel of who knows how long to even get into Israel to do the kidnapping?

Who conducted the weekly HOMICIDE bombings within Israel for the last six years?

And for six years, who undertook an arms buildup on the Syrian and Iranian dime?

Quit blaming the UN (they can't do anything right or wrong), look at who picked the fight and who's paying their bill, and that'll tell you who needs to be dealt with forcefully, once and for all.

Quit watching the news, it's rotting your brain.

Guess again. The Jews are just responding to a continuing series of cross-border attacks by Islamic terrorists. The U.N. is nothing more than bunch of spineless lick-spittle cowards that can't even agree on how to deploy what troops to stop what ever it is that make them attend an "emergency" meeting in the first place. Worthless organization...
