Has anyone experienced such early teething? Is it possible at such a young age - or am I misdiagnosing? He is irritable, chewing his hands and his blanket and drooling.

definately not , my daughter was 8 weeks and 2 teeth popped out then the next week she popped 2 more so by the time she was 9 weeks she had 4 teeth................I would recommend a iced baby cloth to rub on her gums and a baby tooth brush.....it looks like a spiky thimble............just to message her gums and keep them clean and encourage good clean grow.

When it gets to the point that you can feel the teeth under the gums, Put a wet wash cloth in the freezer for about 1 hour, Give the baby some Tylenol and then take the wash cloth and gently massage the baby's gums. It helps the teeth cut through more easily and also helps the swelling go down so the teeth break through sooner.

Baby's usually start doing the chewing thing at 21/2 months old. you'll be wondering in another month why he still doesn't have teeth. It usually takes a few more months. But hey every baby is different.

No its not too early, some babies are born with teeth. He may not get them for a while they can take a bit to break through. Bonjela is good stuff and those teething rings you put in the fridge.

Occassionally, babies are even born with teeth so I wouldn't worry about teething at 2 1/2 months

no my daughter started then. and the she finally got her first teeth at like 4/5 months. no it sounds like he is teething but it will probaly be a couple more months till he gets his teeth. i talked to my doc and she said that babies start getting their 1st set of teeth at 5-15 months. and she also said they start showing signs of teething that early. so hell be getting teeth first. in like 2 more weeks start brushing his teeth gerber has baby tooth cleaner (fun flavors too my daughter love it) with a finger massager so it wont hurt them. i do it everyday for my daughter at least once.

though teething starts after 7-8 months, yet it is ok at this age too because some are born with one or two teeth.
do not worry.

No, its okay! At least the same happened with my child! Well, it's true they begin chewing everything! *lol* But, on pharmacies they sell toys which you may put in the refrigerator so he can chew and the pain will ease.
