Yours Is a beautiful story and due to confidentiality cannot reveal. But they couldn't really compare. One childbirth, One health net victim and a lot of transport. I worked as an EMT for many years. Raised a special child and several times drove 100 miles an hour to emergency room. but it was physical necessity not emotional. She is blessed to have you, may God always bless you both.

Yes I have three times... Once when my aunt was choking on some food in a restaurant and I had to do the Heimlich but it took several times for the food to come out.. I was very scared.. but it finally worked... then I was watching a baby for a friend of mine.. the baby had RSV (some sort of respiratory illness) and he stopped breathing so my sister called 911 and I started breathing for the baby.. just lite breaths and he started breathing again.. that was quite a few years ago and he is a fine happy boy these days I hear... :) and the other time was when I worked with Mentally Retarded Kids... and one of the kids was having a seizure and was choking on his tongue so I turned him on his side and helped him to calm down and he started breathing again.. it is a good feeling to save a life.. I could not imagine being a doctor or a nurse and saving lives all the time.. what a wonderful feeling that would be.. my hats off to the professionals that do it everyday... :)

My opinion about your story:
Love can truly make a huge difference in a person's life. Never under estimate the power of love.
My story:
A friend and I were walking down a country road when I was living in Tampa, FL. This road was filled with dogs, the kind that were used for property security. We saw a Grandma and a little girl, (about 4 years) old, walking toward us, and they got in front of a mobile home with a junk yard, when the 2 junk yard dogs started to run toward them, across a field. We had dealt with these 2 dogs before and they were extremely viscious.
It almost seemed like a horror film in slow motion to me. I saw the dogs running toward them, and I quickly bolted toward the lady and kid. I had been trained in karate, and because of the dog problem had learned to carry nunchackus with me. I met the lady & kid right before the dogs, with "chucks" pulled, whipped the chucks around and hit one of the dogs right in the nose. He let out an unwordly yelp - which stopped dog 2 in his tracks. They both ran off...and so did the Grandma with a scared kid who had crawled up on top of her shoulders!
I never got a thank you, or saw them again...they seemed more scared of me than the dogs.

I was working at a restaurant at Disney and had to give the Hymlic (sp?) twice in a week. Once was to a 3 year old girl choking on a hot dog, and the other to a 70 year old lady who did'nt/could'nt thouroughly chew her steak.

I took lifesaving course and once in a swimming hole there were a bunch of people swimming and I kept seeing a little boy slip beneath the surface so I went and brought him to shore.
I believe God has used me several times to prevent someone from committing suicide.

the guys who go out and look for lost hunters/hikers
these days I'm a peer counselor for the "Parents of murdered children" group some times some people who've lost a child due to a violent crime may think about suicide but our peer group is first rate. we look after each other.

Please ask her to get into counseling. She might have a dependent disorder which will not end up good for your relationship, and depression is a serious illness.
As far as saving lives, I tried. There was a woman who had a heart attack at the movies, we administered CPR which kept her alive until the ambulance arrived, but she died at the hospital.
