I've survived cancer twice. both times surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

One aspect of death was me going through it.

But the more affecting aspect was watching others in the same hospital go through it, and their loved ones.
The first time there were lot's of children being treated. Many with arms or legs amputated. everyone so sick, so tired of trying to stay alive. and their parents trying to will them through the process.

It still brings tears to my eyes just remembering the scenes.

I have been in the same room with two loved ones who have died. They were both in the last stages of cancer. The first one was an aunt, and she died very peacefully, just took one last deep breath and died. The second one was my father in law, his death was different because he was quite talkative just hours before the end. He looked up at the ceiling all the time. He kept reaching out and up and was calling out to "people" he saw...people who had died before him, his sister, his brother, his mother and father. He kept saying I want to go home. It was very heart wrenching for all of us, as we watched this once very strong, power man shrink and become so weak and small. He was a very sophisticated, intelligent man. In death he cried like a baby, and called out for his Mama. Both experiences had a very strong impact on me. I am not afraid of death. I know life goes on...our spirits are eternal. What happens on the "other side" is miraculous and wonderful. It is not painful or scary. We are met by our friends and loved ones as we walk from this life to the next...Heaven...the spirit world...the next dimension. Call it what you will, but from the looks on their faces...such peace and contentment...it must be paradise.
