I want to let it run around the house and I know it is possible because my aunt's ferret pretty much runs freely. The problem is that it probably wont be allowed downstairs so that leaves little room to run. Like, only two room and a hallway. Do you think this is enough? suggestions, please?

Matter of fact, ONE room is enough. It is better to have one room completely FERRET PROOF so they cannot escape or hurt themselves than a whole house that's halfway save. If your ferret escapes and gets outside it will most likely not survive unless it gets found by someone. If the ferret gets into the kitchen it can get under the dishwasher or the fridge and some of these appliances have moving parts like fans and belts and that can kill your ferret. A friend of mine found her ferret under the dish washer with a snapped neck. You wouldn't want that, would you? Some houses have areas you never see where the ferret can actually get into the walls and the only way to retrieve him would be to knock out a wall( for instance under cabinets or behind washers and driers).
There are also too many chemicals and plants to get into if you let him run the whole house and even though they may not eat them, they will lick to see what it is and that can be enough to hurt them, so give him ONE great room and he'll be fine. You can set up FerreTrail Funnels/Tunnels and all kinds of toys, like a kitty condo and a digging box and make the room a weezil wonderland with lots of fun to be had.
One room is easier to keep clean too, because ferrets aren't always 100% when it comes to using the potty. Please inform yourself well about all aspects of ferret ownership.
They are expensive to get and keep and they can run up quite the vet bill when they get older, because ferrets are prone to a series of diseases like insulinoma and adrenal disease.
A ferret will require you to spend quite a bit of time with it, it needs interaction and at least 4 hours out of the cage. I cage mine when I'm not in the house to keep them save. It doesn't have to be a catastrophe, just something little can hurt your ferret, like getting a claw caught in the carpet. Can you imagine the panic of your little fert if he can't get lose for hours, cause you're not there?
So please get all the information you can and read "Ferrets for Dummies". It's a good book full of valuable information.
PS: have you ever thought about adopting one? Go to petfinder.com and put in your zip code. There are lots of little ferts out there looking for forever homes. You would be saving a life and probably saving a few bucks, since all you'll have to pay is the adoption fee and usually that includes shots.
I adopted two boys for my girls and I paid $45 per ferret and the owners gave me a giant cage with accessories for free. Just think about it.

I've had 3 ferrets.. my first 2 had about the same amount & no its not enough!

The ferret I have now (Gidget) runs around the house freely & she loves it!!

You should let them have lots of room 2 run around.. if the ferret u get sleeps alot then take him/her outside 4 a few hours when they r awake if its not dark! That should give them plenty of room 2 play!

If they r running around freely (no cage) & constricted 2 an area they'll try n e thing 2 get 2 where they r unwanted... so the best thing 2 do is 2 give them alot of room 2 run & play & ALOT OF TOYS 2 play with but a playmate works best!!

WARNING: don't buy ferret hammocks... they r dangerous to yur ferret... they can get hung to death!!!

two rooms can be enough, you just want to make sure that it has a place to use its litter box, and that it has been descented and that you should probably get a cage for it at night, someplace it feels safe. Make sure you have a good way to block the door so that it doesn't run past you when you open it, but that sounds like plenty of space.
