Do you feel older students work as hard as younger ones, are they a plus or a negative for you?

During undergrad, I noticed that the older students were more focused on their studies and produced better quality work compared to the regular cohort of student.

HOWEVER, in graduate school, it was really hit or miss. Some of the older students were very good at what they did. Others could barely construct a coherent sentence -- I wondered how they had gotten into the PhD program.

I'm 27 (not sure if that would count me as an older student or not) but the teachers and professors I've had in my schooling have given me equal attention as the younger students.

I feel that I also work just as hard, if not harder than the younger students. I've been working minimum wage paying jobs since I was a teenager, and just realized last year that you can't pay the rent along with the other bills on a McDonald's salary. I feel the younger students (the ones right out of high school) still don't understand the value of a dollar. Most still live at home, with their parent's paying their way through college.

That is just my opinion though.

Yes I have. Most of my classes are with older students. I feel they are alot more serious than some of the students my age. I like working with them. They really help because it seems like there always the smartet ones in class lol!
