If so, then its a win win!!! That would mean, we ARE created in gods image and we just evolved from what he designed in his image! This way, science wins too! It would prove evolution was true...and that Christianity is the truth...yay BIBLE and yay SCIENCE!!

The following is nothing more than my own opinion, formed after a lot of pondering the same question...

Adam and Eve were fully formed Homo sapiens, but they were not the only Homo sapiens that existed at the same time. They were simply infused with a SOUL by God.

Further, you should be aware that scientists do not think we evolved from apes, but from other non-human hominids. They think that we shared a common anscestor with apes, but that common anscester was neither ape nor human, but had qualities that were similar to both. Of course, creationists don't like that idea, and believe that if something is distasteful or bad, then it never happened that way.

Whatever. I think nuclear weapons are bad, but that doesn't stop atoms from splitting, does it?

Also, evolution doesn't just pop up in a few individuals, but within a large population of them. Modifications add up over time until the segregated population changes so much that they are no longer able to produce viable offspring, even when the opportunity presents itself.

When Genesis speaks of God creating us in His image, I believe that to be true, but I don't believe Genesis means that image is physical, but spiritual and psychological.

No but we did not evolve from Apes either. Apes and Homo Sapiens- (modern humans) share a common ancestor. Mitochondrial DNA has been used to show that modern humans and Neanderthal evolved separately as well. The bible theory i guess would be a great test of faith, but science just does not support it. However science does not explained what started the life in which all species evolved, as there are many theories, but if you look at the Story of Adam and Eve from a scientific view you can make it work if I remember my Sunday school something about God taking a rib from Adam and creating Eve and all the plants and animals- You can think- (and I am oversimplifying this) God created this single celled organism (Adam) and from this evolved anther species (Eve) and all the the other plants and animals. Don't let faith hamper your scientific curiosity and ingenuity use it to inspire it and always check the source of the information- Scientific and faith based. Think of it as Evealution

There are ways to reconcile the Bible and science ... but this is not it.

Here, try this site (see Source). This is the official Catholic take on 'Adam, Eve, and Evolution.' It is *far* more enlightened than that fundamentalist literalists. Why? Perhaps because the Catholic church has been thinking (and learning some painful lessons) about the relationship between religion and science for a *lot* longer:

No silly, Adam and Eve was just part of the fairytale. If the bible were true to start with then I would have to agree but you know how it is.

You need to stop talking like that because you will confuse the kids. You make it sould like the bible and all that stuff is true.

that would make God an ape. do you think an ape created the world, the universe, and everything in them? wouldn't there be a lot more trees and bananas, and less apes in the zoo? your question, like my underwear, has a lot of holes in it.

Fvucking Creationists. Why do you continue to misrepresent the concepts of Darwinism? On the one hand, you tell Evolutionist to keep their opinions to themselves, but then make completely uninformed statements like yours.

Why don't you go flagellate yourself?

I think they were characters in a verbal story that was retold for so long that their names now make sense to the modern reader (modern 5,000 years or so compared to Lucy and older fossils).

I just don't think we came from monkeys and if so why are their still monkeys walking around. Why haven't those monkeys evolved into human form like their ancestors?
