Harper once had a double digit lead but now it is too close to call. How did Harper lose the support of the Canadian populace when it looked like he was going to be able to form his majority government just weeks ago?

Brian Mulrooney - just had to sing while Irish eyes are smiling with Regan amongst a huge list of other things and I personally believe no one has forgotten about the Mulrooney years . Harper was okay esp with the 1% drop in the GST but then the photo copy of Bush's speech at the G8 summit brought it all back to me and I assume a lot more people as well.
I understand Mulrooney is living in the US along with Kim Cambell and if Harper isn't careful he will be to.

It's funny the liberals get caught stealing and they will sooner or later be forgiven but the perception that we might get sold (more so ) to the US is somthing that just doesn't go way .

Other than Mulrooney's back to back majority can you name one long term conservative government in modern Canadian history? Joe Clark lasted a little less than a year......Campbell (and it was so not her fault but she got to hold the bag while the s--t hit the fan) was less than a few months ..... we don't seem to elect them and when we do it isn't for very long.

Ralph Klien seems to be it but he is Provincial and it is Alberta .

No honeymoon lasts forever. It's summer so the polls are just not that meaningful in any case, unless they have everyone's # at the cottage. The Israel vs. Hezbollah issue is very complicated-or else it wouldn't exist. There's really no position that any party could take on that and not alienate a portion of the public. It's still silly season, it's what happens after labour day that counts.

Don't put all your faith in these dumb polls, the only poll that counts is election day. Besides, where did they take this "poll" in Toronto. No Tory has a chance in this Liberal "bought off" city!!
