Do you think it's possible to have a real friendship with someone you're still in love with, but who doesn't love you. We have a lot in common and love being together, but am I kidding myself? Can I accept friendship only, or am I secretly hoping that, given time, he'll love me too? How do I find out?

This is close to my heart. I'm in the same boat. I've been in love with a man for almost a year now. We dated for a while, and he broke my heart, but still I love him. We've become really good friends. He turns to me for advice, and I to him. We instant message everyday. He's now involved with another woman who is pregnant. He doesn't love her, they always fight. He's miserable. All I do is go on meaningless dates, hopeing he gets his head out of his ***. We get along so well. He tells me I'm the only person he trusts, can laugh with, that my friendship means the world to him and that he misses me. It's been so hard to accept just being friends with him. He knows how I feel about him. I wish you luck, and when you find your answer, please let me know.
