Learning to swim is not a difficult thing to do but you have to trust yourself when you are in the water. I'd recommend starting with a basic red cross swimming lesson. I am not sure how old you are but if you feel to old to be doing this do what I did. You simply start in a very shallow end of the pool or lake. Take a few kids with you who are not yet old enough to swim in a deep area. Practice floating around with them and observe what they do. You have an excuse to stay in the shallow end because you are "keeping an eye on the kids". Eventually you will become comfortable with the water and relax. Relaxation is the key to swimming. Go a litle deeper in the water each time you go swimming. You will find that it is easier than you think!!!

I learned to swim by putting the arm floaties on and just immitating those that were swimming. Within 2 lessons, I was able to take them off and swim on my own, not very good but a great starting point to get better. Within one month I was able to cross the pool twice so I could jump off the diving board as well.

Find a good, patient teacher. Then, when you have free time, take a trip to the pool and hang around. Try swimming a little bit, along with just splashing around with friends.
Teachers and enjoyment are key. Take your time at learning how to swim properly. Try to absorb every word your instructor says. Private lessons are better than group lessons.

You are better off attempting to swim yourself, after watching others swim. However, your technique, speed ..etc. may not be correct it is the fastest way to learn. I don't advise learning it that way, but it is the FASTEST way to learn. Other than getting an instructor to teach you. Regardless of what you choose to do, best of luck to you! =]

There is no fast way. You have to take it one step at a time get a friend to help you learn how to swim if you do not want to do that talk to one of your community swim coaches i bet they would be glad to help you. Or take up swimming lessons. Which ever you prefer

Depends if you'r afraid or not.
If you're afraid, go for swim lessons with YMCA or YWCA you'll feel safer with instructor.
If you're not afraid at all, try to see what others do in water and do the same.

Go to the YMCA and take lessons. There's nothing like swimming for good exercise that is enjoyable.
