If you are an older person, like me, we grew up with only three channels on the TV. Whatever was on, or was said, was always a bad fit with what you believed. As a result, bias and baloney was always in our face, and offered some reason to question even the talking heads that said things we agreed with.
Now, we can sort ourselves into never seeing a point of view contrary to our own. It's easier to fall head over heels into a relatively radical perspective and embed ourselves in groups of like minded individuals who happily affirm what we are thinking. I'm not even considering saying that I am immune from this, but we should all be aware that we are diverging in opinions instead of converging as the dreamers said we would with technology and globalization. Arguing is a lot of work, and is uncomfortable, so now we have a stupid blue and red state categorization where differences used to be insignificant because we are fundamentally similar.
Technology hasn't taken critical thinking away, it's only lessened the desire for us to question what we see, making us a little soft.

Have a great weekend all!

Well it depends how you want to look at it. In a way yes, because technology is becoming more advanced every year, and almost everybody depend on it these days. Though there are people who uses the new technology, but in a way can still think the way they were taught to without the help of technology. If you can put your mind to it, you can do almost anything. So yeah in a way technology is taken over very slowly.

I think some in some areas. One area in particular that causes me to be concerned is in the area of Mathmatics. I go to different stores in the Malls and the clerks are using calculators for every thing to the point that in one store something went wrong with the cash register and the clerk had a hard time trying to figure out how to make change just by using his faculties to count rather that a calculator! Sheeeeeesh!

In a way, it has. We have become to used to the idea of technology doing the work for us, instead of us thinking and working for ourselves.

I believe over the year education is being geared to depend on gadgets to do the thinking and less on brain power. How else can they truly take over if they don't take your mind first.

Hmmm ... dunno what web-site to find this on ... hmm ... wiki doesn't have anything ... ah wait they do ... they do ... "Critical thinkers can gather such information from observation, experience, reasoning, and/or communication. Critical thinking has its basis in intellectual values that go beyond subject-matter divisions and which include: clarity, accuracy, precision, evidence, thoroughness and fairness."

Yes, I can go beyond subject - matter ... I have clarity, not always accurate (but close to it) ... sometimes I'm fair and other times I'm extreemly unfair ... dunno ... I guess my critial thinking is warped.
