The answer is Aspasia:
...Born in Miletus, she came early to Athens, where, by her beauty, cleverness and social talents, she succeeded in assembling in her house the most important men of her time. Even Socrates was not ashamed to associate with her and it is remarkable that Plato attributes the funeral oration in the Menexenus to Aspasia, and puts it into the mouth of Socrates. Pericles divorced his wife to marry her, and from that time her political influence increased so much that Plutarch even makes her instigate the war between Athens and Samos for the sake of her native town Miletus. In any case the preference for Aspasia shown by Pericles afforded a welcome excuse for his opponents to attack him; people would not hear of a woman having anything to say in political life, especially one who was not an Athenian but was from abroad, and even Ionia which was notorious for the immorality of its women. The marriage of Pericles to Aspasia was according to Athenian ideas of "mesalliance" : the beautiful Milesean was not considered a legitimate wife, but a concubine, a subsidiary wife. Hence she was very severely criticized by the comic poets, and when people called Pericles "the great Olympian", the nickname "Hera" was ready to hand to Aspasia; but the comic poets ridiculed her power over the great statesman by putting her on the stage now as the domineering Omphale and now as the nagging Deianera, thereby suggesting that as Heracles grew feeble under the sway so does Pericles under the arbitrary will of the foreign adventuress. At he present date gossip of all kinds equally irresponsible has settled upon her name; it was insisted that she procured free women for her husbandl indeed, according to a statement in Athenaeus she was said to have maintained a regular brothel. .. When she was accused of "asebeia"(impiety) and procuring, Pericles defended her and secured her acquital. After the death of Pericles she married Lysicles, a man of low origin, who thereby obtained great influence.
