It looks to me to be about 480 miles from the northern most point in Utah to the closest border with Canada.

I live in SLC & married a Canadian. From SLC to Lethbridge it takes us about 9-10 hours following I-15 all the way. This is a good time of year to travel since the passes will not have snow. Just be sure to fill your tank on this side of the border as gas is outrageous up there. . . and pay for everything with your US credit/debit card as you'll get the exchange rate refunded.
(SLC to Lethbridge is 750 miles)

Depends on where on the border you're crossing and what part of Utah you're heading to. At the very least, you need to cross the thicker part of Montana and the eastern portion of Idaho to get to Utah.
