I have a LOT of movies I'd recommend (my favorites are the 1st ones listed per category):
Comedy: Aresenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story, Harvey, Airplane, The Naked Gun, Sleeper, Play it Again Sam
Sci-Fi: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Harry Potter 3
Action: Indiana Jones [1 and 3], Batman, Lethal Weapon
Drama: Men of Honor, Gone with the Wind, Inherit the Wind, In the Heat of the Night, A Few Good Men, October Sky
Nostalgic: Radio Days, The Sandlot

If you like romance I would say definitely get You've Got Mail w/tom hank and Meg Ryan-Serendipity w/John Cusack is awesome also romance. If you are into older romance in days like Jane Austin books- Pride and Predjuice-I love it! and also Sence and Sensibility- I never get tire of watching those. Emma is also a great choice.
The Patriot is great and so is Gladiator. Pearl Habor is awesome but a tear jerker!!! I love Swat with Collin Farrell and American Outlaws with Collin Farrell and The Recruit starring Collin Farrell :) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is good but it gets deep and you have to watch it a few times (at least I did) to get all of it.
Pirates of the Carribean is a must!!! Johnny Depp and ORLANDO BLOOM! You can always go with the classics like an affair to remember and Casablanca and Gone with the Wind. I can ramble on and on...I love movies... :)

Shawshank Redemption, Silence Of the Lambs, Tango And Cash, Three To Tango, Judge Dredd, Time Cop, The One, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Fried Green Tomatoes (really you'll like it)
any Adam Sandler flick like Billy Maddison, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, etc.
The Color Purple not really one of my favorites, but a classic.

It depends......What kind of movies do you like?drama,mystery,romance,thriller,horror?
I would say Pride and Prejudice(the newer version),Silence of The Lambs,Pirates of the Caribbean 1&2,Mr. and Mrs. Smith,Just Like Heaven,Walk the Line,The Notebook,and the ever so famous TITANIC(but I'm sure almost everyone has that movie.

Everyone should have a set of Harry Potter movies at home, it's just not natural if u don't! And get Pirates of the Caribbean, u gota have that too!
