Not too many gunsmiths can manufacture a handgun for you from scratch. Unless you want like an old-style flintlock, or something like that.

Out of necessity one of my brothers once made his own shotgun. He used a length of galvanized steel, 3/4" pipe, built the stock from the branch of a tree, devised a hammer and trigger and ignition chamber and used a very light gunpowder charge and shot. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYBODY.

I was amazed when he showed me his home-made arquebus and assured me that he had killed a number of quail with it one year.

Most gunsmiths can take an already manufactured handgun and customize it or you.

Why do you want such a thing? Do you just have buckets of money to spend? Your question is a bit vague. If you are like mega-wealthy, then contact someone like Korth and have them make a pistol or revolver to your specifications. Colt custom shop can also probably help you out, if you have the money.

Otherwise do like Benminer or Maigen suggest.

Buy a match-grade 1911 and then buy whatever other parts you want for it. Any competent gunsmith can work on a 1911.

Unless you mean custom as in you bring in a wheelbarrow full of iron ore and walk out with a gun, in which case you're out of luck.
