This is why I ask. I am so shocked at the poor spelling and the poor grammar I find on this website. It's unreal. In the 80's America was rated highest in education and now we don't even make it to the top 20. It's so sad. I asked a question last week about people using spell check and I can't believe that people do not take 15 seconds of their time to correct their spelling. So, is it that Americans that are so sadly uneducated in such a basic area, or is it a worldwide epedemic? Please, if you want to be taken seriously then try to use proper grammar and use the spellcheck. Trust me, I am doing you a favor because your spelling and grammar may not be important to you now but it will be when it comes time for a job interview. Not trying to be harsh, just being candid.

I am American. I personally find it appalling when I read a question or answer that noone can make sense of. If people know how to get on the computer and get to this site, then they SHOULD know how to spell the simplest words.

Australian; can tell you something funny about how US culture and it's abhorrent spelling practices have permeated all cultures.
my Husband (not from an english speaking background) and i were on holidays visiting and old prison. He look up at the sign and remarked, "Oh my God, they spelt goal wrong".

He actually though that the correct spelling for gaol was jail.

I am Canadian. We are the best spellers, are grammatically correct, and use proper punctuation. This is all thanks to our exceptional education system.
