Has PC gotten to the point where it is strangling us and working against us? Has it gone too far?

Please give examples.

It is doing exactly what it was designed to do that is make sure that no one will ever say anything that anyone will object to. Yes it does strangle us and yes it does prevent us from attacking problems head on. I believe that we should use respect in our speech but calling me a racist because I used black instead of African-American takes attention off of what I was trying to say and puts it on the issue of verbiage.

Yes! For example if a person is fat they should be held accountable. This laziness is in part responsible for high health cost. The foundation of real problems can only be resolved if the symptoms are known. We have to hold those who fit the profile accountable. If the real definition of political correctness is used then the politicians personally benefit because the root of PC is that you and I or the masses shouldn't talk about anything controversial in public. The two things as an example that are referred to are:religion and politics. If you and I quit talking ;THEY won!

Yes. Political Correctness is just a candy-coated coercive term for "join the crowd" or "bend to peer pressure". It is an easy excuse for people who can't think for themselves, or who don't know the difference between right and wrong, to justify their meager mental muscle.

At the risk of offending many on this forum I will abstain from giving examples. But millions of people still recognize the difference between right and wrong. If you have to ask...well then better do some mental gymnastics.

What? I feel no PC restraints in saying that Republican policies have been hurting the nation for 5 years now.

So, there I proved that your theory is wrong in two ways.

________

And I have no PC qualms in explaining to Harold B that in Article VII it says:

"...done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven".

"In the Year of our Lord" is the extended version of writing A.D. or Anno Domini (Latin: "In the year of our Lord"). It is not a Christian reference.

Considering that Jefferson, Franklin, and Adams - three of our most vital Founding Fathers all doubted the divinity of Jesus - and Adams signed a unanimously ratified treaty that stated: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

What in bloody hell makes you think of this is barely a US situation. this is occurring even in Australia & Europe. One Islamic team has demanded sometime a week be set aside at a cities swimming pool in basic terms for Islamic women persons. whilst that request became into refused the Council has been taken to the Anti-discrimination cost. consequence is yet to be desperate. This team has mentioned that in the event that they lose they're going to take the situation up with the UN. completely Un-Australian behaviour yet we now would desire to cop those issues as a results of fact of computing gadget.

Nope. Politicians are more concerned about being reelected than in solving the real problems of this country. BTW what do YOU mean when you say "political correctness." It seems that most people have their own definition of it.

Moslem's practice Shariah law to enforce their way of thinking over others. Liberalism is a religion, like Islam, and political correctness is like Shariah law it is used to force others into conforming to their religious beliefs. A Prime example of that is "The Separation of Church and State" Article VII of the US Constitution recognizes Our Lord (Jesus) . The constitution of the (former) USSR was written to follow the atheist (Liberal) doctrine and article 54 of that constitution states their shall be a separation of church and state. Thus Liberals impose their lying form of Shariah law political correctness onto our society with the same cruelty as Moslem's impose their ways

The question should be:

"Is the Rovian political-slime machine impending the ability of politicians to diagnose the real problems of our society?"

Can't go after the real issues if you are continually tied up voting on "flag burning / gay marriage" crap.

no. i don't ever feel like i have to be politically correct enough to shut up when i see a problem.

don't let yourself be intimidated by people, but also consider that if you choose to offend people then they probably won't consider your opinions very compelling.

like ethan here above me... he called someone "black" (he says) and they were offended that he did not choose "african american". that distinction doesn't really matter so much to me, so i defer to people who will be offended. ethan however, is a weenie so he feels all put upon that someone had the nerve to be offended by something he said. who cares? this would have been an opportunity for you, ethan to stand up for your right to be an ***hole. no one hits a cripple! even if they are a racist! see how easy this is?
