Most slaughter the animals as humanly as possible. The goal is for a quick painless death...but even that can that can flawed when the persons aim is off and doesn't hit the intended area.
If you are concerned about humane killing look into Kosher beef....yeah that is a bad way to die.
There are agencies that are looking into gassing small animals like chickens. Very painless, they just fall asleep and then die not knowing what is going on.

There really isn't a good way to kill an animal that is going to be used for food, you cannot drug the animal of that drug will be in the food, you cannot just waint until the animal dies then usually it was too sick and couldn't be used for food. There are just no good ways to do it, but there are things people can do like eat less meat or try to only eat animals that are slaughtered in ways you agree with, but things aren't going to change over night and most places follow the law.

You are so right. The slaughterhouses don't just kill the animals, they kill them in inhumane ways. Not only that, they are raised in unhealthy conditions. Animals that are sick or dying are also thrown into the mix of animals being led to their death.

If people were to actually see the way animals are raised and killed, there would be many more vegetarians. ("Fast Food Nation" should be required high school reading.)

As for your question, like so many immoral actions, if corporations can make a buck doing it, they are going to. About the only thing we can really do, is eat vegetarian....or at the very least, eat organically grown livestock.

Please see the Russian film Adonis 14 it was banned in Ukraine for 9 years it will stop you from ever eating animals again. It changed my life. Don't eat meat meat you can make a difference. My children have never had a hamburger in their lives and they are 11 (twins) People take the boys out and offer them meat and they decline the offers. Imagine how many pounds of dead animals 3 people could eat eat in a life time and know that my kids and I make a difference. Hope you make a difference as well.
