1. tighten you spending until it hurts in case you do not quickly find another job.

2. check whether you are eligible to collect "unemployment insurance" -if you were "laid off" you probably can, if you quit or were fired, you probably cannot.

3. develop a plan to find another job - starting the job search immediately - you will need evidence of looking for a job while collecting unemployment. If you left your job under favorable conditions, ask your previous boss (and co-workers) if they would be willing to provide references for you.

4. Don't be ashamed to tell your friends and acquaintances that you you lost your job and are looking for another one. They may know of a job opening where they work.

5. Be aware that jobs you find may pay less than the one you left because you will have less seniority or the employer may consider your previous experience less applicable than a comparable length of experience at the job being offered.

Would you send me a Thank You card?"

I was in the same situation a few months back...just look in the classifieds section of the paper...and make sure to update your resume...fax it to a few places and also keep it handy just in case they offer you an interview...

I would have to agree with every one else, get a new one! Unless you try to get un-employment. However if you were fired you can kiss that idea goodbye! Good luck!

If you were fired you can file for unemployment. Start looking for a new one right away.
