It's a long way off, but when Varitek comes back, who goes down? Maybe they keep Javy on the Bench to back up first, third, or 3rd catcher? That won't satisfy him more than playing for the Orieles. Who wants a whiner anyway?

I don't know, but the deal isn't done yet. I personally hope he stays an Oriole. I'm sure he's upset about the fact that since Jay Gibbons came back from the DL, Javy isn't even getting the DH spot anymore, but that won't last forever. Hopefully Javy will stay with the Os.

Javy Lopez was a great catcher for the Braves (I am a big Braves fan), and I was furious they let him go. He can hit as well. As far as catching the knuckle ball is concerned, he can, but it is Doug Mirabelli the Sox will turn to when Wakefield pitchers. I'm glad the Sox picked up Lopez. He will be an asset to the club.

Chow!!

No way. Mirabelli can't catch anything except a knuckleball pitcher. That is why the Red Sox got Lopez in the first place. He might have been able to catch it earlier in his career, but now he isn't going to be able to cross the plate when Wakefield has his best.

By the time Tek comes back they will carry all 3 catchers because it will be September and the rosters will be expanded. Mirribelli will still catch Wake.....but in the playoffs....hmmmm?

He doesn't need to. Mirabelli will catch Wakefield.
