Why does it take about 5 or 6 seconds for the severe pain to kick in.

5or 6 seconds I'm a redhead Instantaneously like combustion and sorry cannot at this site repeat some of the words I have used at that moment.
(If mom new I'd have to eat ivory soap again and i can taste it evertime I smell the stuff) but believe you me way more rapid. But then I might just be a little abby normal:-)

Probably because it is a greater distance from your brain the "signal" that ouch that hurt, takes longer to get there.
