*****Trivial Pursuit is fantastic. There are so many different types now-a-days as well. Pop Culture comes with DVD for the pie questions. Original Trivial Pursuit is great too. You can play with 1 -6 players (or more if you have pieces from other games) or play in teams. There are also Junior additions so that all age groups can play.
*****Taboo is also a really great game, it's played in teams and could get out of control.
****Pictionary has been banned from my family! Too many disagreements, but it is sooo much fun!
***If you are looking for a good laugh, try Headbands, you put on a headband and insert a picture card facing outward and then ask questions to find out who you are. Hilarious!
I agree that Clue*** and Cranium*** are also good games; good wholesome fun.
I love board games and could go on forever! Slang Teaser****, Scatagories****, Aggravation*****, Scene It**, Guesstures****, Act 1*** and many more.
Hope you try some these out, you are sure to have fun!

Chess and Checkers are definitely good board games because they are 1 on 1 and they keep your mind sharp through strategizing. However, if you want more than 2 players, Sorry, Aggravation, LIFE, Monopoly, Clue, and Battleship are all great board games because they allow you to play with as little as 2 or as many as 6-8 players, and they are games of luck and chance...no strategies needed...just have fun with friends/family. It's refreshing to hear a question about a board game and not a computer game! Thanks for that! Have fun!

Clue is fun because it's not just for little kids and you can play with up to six people. It is the best board game.

Go, Chess, Hex, and Go Moku are good strategy games for 2 people.
Cranium and Trivial Pursuit are great for parties and it gets very competitive.
