I just typed "mexico" in order to answer questions and I found lots of racist comments about mexicans....and being honest, as a kid I had always dreamed of going to the U.S. to see a baseball game (oriole fan), go shopping for the weekedn to Tucson, or visit my sister (married to an american dude) but maybe I wont go, Ive been to Europe a few of times and I haven't had any racism problems...and don't get me wrong, there are racist people and not racist people out there, but by just reading the answers I feel dissapointed...see for yourself.

I don't think you'll find American's that racist. I would take the trip - I think you'll be surprised.

Alot of Americans are currently irritated and sensitive about the illegal immigrant situation. For the most part that is what is fueling some of the comments.

I hope you make the trip and have a good time.

Sweetheart, the US tends to be mean to alot of people. You should try typing in the word N**ger and see how many people have something to say about black people.
Truth is, everyone has it hard and that's life. I've always been open minded and thought the best of mexicans because they are dependable, family oriented, hard workers and very friendly. But everyone doesn't think like that. There are people in the US that root for mexican immigrants and there are people in the US that hate mexicans because supposedly "they take all the american jobs".
It all comes down to the person. I'm sorry you are discouraged but take a visit to New York, a place that is nothing but different races and cultures and you should have no problems.

Being online doesn't make people more racist, it just gives the ones that are racist a place to make friends and pretend they're popular. It also gives people that have what I like to refer to as "temporary racism" a place to vent. You know the sort that only dislike a group when it becomes mainstream to do so but then are completely out of it when they realize they were a better person when they considered ethnicity to be sort of thing that determined how hard your last name was to say. But yeah, don't feel bad, just know that while racist statements get a lot of racist comments, there are millions of people online, thousands on yahoo answers and most of them disagree with the statement to the point of ignoring its' existence.

well to my knowledge or experience America in general can be a very arrogant society when it comes to the whole Mexican thing but as individuals most are not like this.. it is a fact of life that the more extreme and disagreeable opinions tend to be the ones that get spoken about maybe because the people that think otherwise have more important things to do ....and as far as the whole illegal immigrant thing and 'them' taking all the jobs ..well the people that tend to say things like that are generally not willing to do those jobs anyway ...but don't tell them that cos they will never admit it...I personally don't care what country you are from and what one you are living in now if you are an arrogant opinionated imbecile then keep your stupidity to yourself the rest of the world doesn't want to hear it...and guess what America is full of illegal immigrants its just that most of them have families that snuck in from places like England, Ireland, Wales, and Europe a hundred years or so back....please dont let the small minded thinking of a few make you not try and fulfil your dreams then they have won and do you really want them to do that

Yeah that's very true.
America is all weird.
First they hate blacks, the Irish immigrants, then islam people and now latin people.
They jsut dont know who to hate anymore.
If you're white no one will notice youre mexican though.
People are very different some will treat you right some won't.

In Mexico there's also racism for white people, I've lived it.

In Canada I believe they're ok with everyone !

yes i understand you. i too have type in mexico and have found racist remarks about us (i'm mexican) saying how we're illegals and shouldn't be in the US. and how if we're going to be in the US we should speak english, not spanish. i too feel disappointed and upset to know that that's how people feel about mexicans.
i too have gone to europe and everyone was real friendly...they didn't care what your nationality i was.
and it's horrible that now with the whole immigration thing going on people are giving mexicans bad reps and sterotyping.
and with me going to a school FULL of white teens, they always stare and give me dirty looks.
you should still consider coming to the US, i'ts a beautiful country with a lot to offer.

It's just the most fashionable "hate" object since Bush is having the tail shake the dog. This is a good way for everyone to get all embroiled over hispanic immigration instead of how Bush has bankrupted this country, and that we will be left for years with his destruction.

*Sigh*......we are a predictable species.
