If we have stability in Iraq, then our factories can run, the cars, trucks, boats, planes can go, homes are heated or cooled, etc...etc...etc.... In other words our whole society runs on oil. We have the largest demand in the world for oil. Would you not think that was worth trying to stabilize a region over? Are we too oil dependent in this nation? You betcha. There are no affordable alternatives out there at this time, and until we either tap more resources or come up with a viable solution we will need to ensure stability in the middle east. This is not about the dollar, this is about our thirst for oil. China's demands are climbing right up there with ours. Thus the reasons for the high prices.

I don't like the fact that people have to die in war but we have to defend our countries resources. We are a free country as a result of lives being lost.

I don't know much about the oil industry but I do know that car manufacturers can and have make cars that run on a different energy source.

Human life is still the top of all things. Oil and other materials things could be sourced on other places instead of sacrificing human lives.

We obviously aren't getting the oil; gas prices continue to rise. Also, "price gouging" was always mentioned, yet no independent or government commission has ever been able to find any evidence of it. Sorry, no oil here.
