Something is a little out of the ordinary. Your 2005 car should be under warranty with only 14k miles. It might be something as minor as a little rust on the rotors (being summer time and humid), or it might be something a little more serious like a caliper hanging up, which will warp the rotors and cause all sorts of wonderful issues. Brakes are nothing to mess with and they SHOULD NOT make noise. Call your dealer and tell them there is a problem with the brakes. If they give you static about it being a wear surface, look them straight in they eye and tell them if you knew this car was so hard on the brakes you would have bought something else, and you'll be sure to look elsewhere when its time to get a new one.

A technician can find out real quick by simply taking one of the front wheels off and checking the brake pad thickness. Squeaks can happen anytime and don't necessarily mean the pads need replacing. However, a caliper can malfunction which could wear the pads prematurely on one of the wheels. Some cars have been known to wear brakes that fast normally, but it's not typical.

Some of the auto makers use the lifetime brake shoes and they have pieces of aluminum in the shoes to make them last and they tend to glaze up the rotors, and then again you may just have a stone that got lodged in the caliper and is rubbing against the rotor every time you hit the breaks. I would just take it back to the dealer and tell them it is squealing when you hit the breaks and let them check it out it should still be under warranty but the ans were to your q is no you shouldn't';t need brakes in just 14000 miles.

Material in brake pads or shoes sometimes is made too hard causing lots of brake noise especially driving in early morning start ups or wet weather. Most dealers have this problem and have addressed it through warrrenty with new softer material in the brake pads. So go to your dealer and see if any changes have been made.

Sounds too soon unless the car was parked somewhere outside for long time and brakes got corroded. Another possible reason - driving style. Anyway, I'd suggest to speak to Service Manager of your dealer, may be they can cover it or at least part of your costs.

you should go back to the dealer where you bought it most car companys only warranty brakes and rotors for 12 months or 12 thousand miles but you use a direct approach they will usually fix the problem for you at no cost.

It all depends on your driving habits. Do you live in the mountains? All those downhill stops can wreak havoc on your brakes. Just wasted $1400 on a brake job from Dodge, and the brakes are squealing again. Perhaps it's because I live in the mountains, or because the car's junk!

It depends on the person driving the car and how often the brakes are used.
You may need brake pads.

I'm not a mechanic, but at 14k you wouldn't think anything would need to be fixed. Take it to the dealer and tell them that whatever it is, it needs to be fixed for free. Do a little research online to see if anybody else has a similar complaint. Good luck.
