These women are crazy in my opinion. For one do they really realize that sex has responsibilities. If your going to be intimate think about what may happen if you dont protect yourself. This plan B pill is dangerous. You cant take any aspirin with this and certain things you take can make u bleed more. Yea they think it can prevent certain things but do they realize that this can kill them. But then again I'm against abortion anyway!!

Ever tried emergency contraception? It's no picnic. So don't be so quick to judge until you understand what it's all about.

Yes, there will be stupid women who are irresponsible with their sexuality and their lives. But then there's girls like me who have freak accidents.

I was in a long-term relationship (3+ years) in college and we had *just* started having sex. I started on birth control pills and we *always* used condoms. We also always used dental dams and latex gloves, too. I was on DAY TWO of my very first pack of birth control pills. We used a latex condom backup. Of course, with my luck, the condom slipped off during sex. So we went to the student health clinic and got EC. It cost me $35 for the dose. Compared to the $5/mo I paid for birth control pills, a regular regimen of EC is not only not cost-effective, it's pretty damn stupid when you consider the side effects. The stuff made me nauseous! But hey, I had an accident, and I needed to deal with it like an adult.

In case you don't know what EC is, it's not the same as the "abortion pill" mifiprex. EC is just a megadose of the same hormones contained in regular birth control pills taken in two doses over 12 hours. Some regular birth control pills can be taken as EC (do not attempt without your doctor's direction). EC works by making the ovaries less likely to release an egg and makes the uterus a less hospitable place for implantation. If a woman has already become pregnant, EC will NOT terminate a pregnancy. In this respect, EC is NOT the same thing as abortion.

While I do not support the OTC availability of EC, I think the drug serves a purpose and NEEDS to be available for the women who need it. Women who abuse the drug should be counseled and offered birth control options such as Depo Provera or Ortho Evra.

ADDENDUM FOR INQUISITIVE: Aspirin is a BLOOD THINNER. That is why middle-aged people take it to prevent heart attacks. If you take aspirin with ANYTHING, it will prolong bleeding. That include menstrual and surgical bleeding. If you have anemia, hemophilia or any other clotting disorders, you should take Tylenol to relieve pain.

Well - probably better for many of them and their potential children to take the pill instead getting pregnant. At a later stage many may decide to abort which is even a more difficult decision.

But...I would talk to them very seriosuly about how stupid and dangerous it is to allow their bf to not use a condom and how deadly this can be. They need to udnerstand that they risk their lives and a lot more if they catch HIV this way.

And perhaps also a few words about the pill - that it is nothing different than a very early abortion. Some may get motivated by that too to be more careful next time.

Perhaps handing out a leaflet to each of them about HIV is a good idea too?

If they're asking for it every day, they're not being responsible. But this "little life" cannot think, talk, or function. It's a cell. Better they take the pill now than that cell living in a welfare home. Plus, it's their decision. If people do not support the 'Plan B' pill or abortion, then THEY SHOULDN'T DO IT. They shouldn't force their beliefs on everyone else, and make it illegal. That's just wrong.

I think that people are using this drug for an excuse. They are esentially taking away a life. They should be responsible for their actions. This is just like an easy way out for people. I would say that it would be okay if someone was raped or was by a family member that is okay for that to be used then because they actually have a good reason to take it, but the people going in places just because they did not use protection should not be able to get it.
