Why do a lot of people hate all muslims?

I mean not all of them are bad (me being one of them) some of them are and I know that but some people I know are so generalized if you bring up the topic Muslims they flip out and just start criticizing I mean geez! Can someone please answer my question?

I don't hate Muslims or Islam. I do, however, dispise the extreme elements within Islam, and I am angry that, as you put it, the good Muslims, don't stand up to the bad ones. I am angry that the Muslim nations are not taking control of their substantial extreme elements.

There are those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small. Yet the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?

I am sick and tired of hearing over and over and over again from Muslims that Islam is such a "peaceful religion."

Well, thank Allah Islam is such a "peaceful religion"! Can you imagine if it weren't??!

It is time for the Muslim world to take some accountability and handle its exterme element that is numbered in the millions of people.

A lot of people are stupid. Much in the same way many Muslims hate the Jews though they probably have never met one or had any interaction with them. Right now it also appears that the moderates in Islam are silent in the face of rising extremism- which makes it look like the moderates are only moderates because they are afraid to be more than that- but admire the extremists who fight against the supposed oppression of Muslims everywhere- even though Muslims have done more bad things to Muslims than any other group.

Keep in mind in America, people were raised to be afraid of black people - even though most suburban white people never had any interaction with them. So when Islam comes up and is linked with 9/11 and terrorism- it's not hard to see how such simple minded people would hate all Muslims.

Cheeez, I don't hate all muslims, only the live ones! J/K I think they're not that much different than anyone else is, they want to be able to go to work, raise their families, and have the best of life they can have. Like all people thought, they have some that won't rest until everyone submits to them. Russia proved with cuba back in the fifties that any country can be overtaken with just 5% of a active political population because of peoples "i don't want to be involved" attitude, I think thats true in the muslim world also.

I think after 9/11 when we watched the middle east chanting and cheering because of what happened...I think that was a big breaking point where people started labeling you guys as terrorist. I know as for me, I was insulted seeing that. I dont hate you or any other race...I just dont see killing innocent people, to be something to cheer about.

this whole middle east tension and war thing has stirred up a lot of emotions amongst the american people. a lot of people have lost friends and family in Iraq, and many more lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks. people are looking for a face to direct thair anguish and most of them have chosen the stereotypical "muslim" with a long beard, a turban, and a camel. they see these muslims as nothing more than potential terrorists andd blame their religion for their motives.

it's really sad, because many muslims are just like us, peace-loving, and great people. it's just that there is a lot of senseless pain and a lot of people are hurt and sick of the fighting.
