Both states have the right to exist - but there will always be those, on both sides, who will refuse to recongnize that reality.

The better question would be why didn't the Palestinians take the chance to form their own state in 1948 when Isreal was partitioned? Or why when Jordan and Egypt annexed parts of Palestine, in the 1960s did they not set up a state for the Palestinians whose interests they claim to represent?

Here's a crazy thought - both have the right to exist!

Seriously Palestinian people have the same rights as any other human being. No matter how much Israel wants to treat the Palestinian's like animals to be exterminated.

Imagine, if you will, that Britain invaded the U.S., gained control over a significant portion of its territory, and then encouraged all the illegal immigrants across the U.S. to come and settle in the British-controlled region, as well as many more immigrants from other countries, calling the new region Mexrael. Do you think America would recognize Mexrael's right to exist and happily cede its former land to the new country, or do you think America would fight tooth and nail for what it believed to be it's own property, viewing Mexrael inhabitants as invaders and worse?

it really doesn't matter who is the bloody owner of that bloody piece of land, but i must say, both the countries should live their happily ever after.
i don't know the history properly, but now that, the Israelites are there, its impossible to move them from their. so for the god damn sake of peace, both should live there.
but i must say each and every people in Israel must get at least one hard kick on their bare bottom (but ten for the people in the army and government), for bullying the Palestine people from the day they went their and they don't forget that, they are the settlers in Palestine.

Because they are 99 percent Muslim, and Israel are Jews. Simple I think...People want to hate someone and blame someone for all their troubles, and faults, and guess what, the Jews are the whipping post for the world.
