I chatted with tech support and the tech guy ended up recommending that I change from a VGA connection to a DVI connection. However, this can be costly and am wondering if there is another way. We tried changing the Hertz rate at different resolutions but no change. Do I need a new graphics card by any chance? The PC is about four years old and is 1.3 Ghz with XP Home Edition on it. Tried calling tech support but was put into voicemail that someone would call back within 24 hours. Well no one has of course. So what could be some things to test out or check?

Make certain the Refresh Rate is set properly and also ensure that the monitor is not near any electrical outputs or devices such as fans, etc. These cause electromagnetic interference which manfests itself in the form of waves and lines.

To check your refresh rate:

Right-click your Desktop --> select Properties --> Click the Settings Tab --> click the Advanced button --> click the Monitor Tab

Verify that the "Screen Refresh Rate" is set to 60hz for LCD monitors, or typically 75hz on CRT monitors.

Where are your speakers? Are they close to the monitor? The Magnets inside them will make the screen look like a EKG.. Thats about what I know...
