America should step in as a peacekeeper just like other active members of the United Nations. To control Israel in its attack against Lebanon and to influence Lebanon to regulate the activities of Hezbollah guerillas.

The issue isn't what problems America has, but the much bigger problem for the entire world if major war breaks out in the Middle East. Oil prices notwithstanding, you've got virtually every Muslim-dominated country in the world bent on annihilating Israel because of ancient rivalries over land that both Jews and Muslims consider their own holy ground. We have to look beyond the immediate conflict in the Mideast and beyond the current occupant of the White House. No matter who our president is and no matter who Israel is or isn't in a conflict with at any given time, it's in the world's best interest to keep things from getting worse in the Middle East. The way we're going about it right now may not be the best way, but it's better than doing nothing, IMO. The last thing we want is for nuclear war to break out between Iran and Israel, Syria and Israel, Lebanon and Israel, etc. Even if what is happening over there is just a series of baby steps away from all-out war, each baby step away is that much further from World War 3.

Getting involved? We've been involved from the beginning. We helped start Israel in 1948 and since then we have been selling them weapons. Infact, in the last few weeks we have been sending them more to make sure that they have enough. (Which is great business for companies which manufacture weapons, otherwise known as defense contractors.)

The most recent hostilities are not only between Israel and Hezbollah (a political and terrorist organization operating in Lebanon) but between the countries which support them. Israel's primary supporter is the U.S. - Hezbollah's supporters are Iran and Syria.

Hezbolla started this round of hostilities, but I think that Israel has overreacted. Since July 12 Israeli has killed almost 10 times as many people as Hezbolla has killed (362 vs. 37). The vast majority of the dead are civilians.

They better worry about the USA right here right now, like raising minimum wage and get their nose back in totheir own **** mess they have in THE USA. Stay out of the others problems until you fix your own.
Am I wrong?
We have people living on dirt floors, getting ready for a civil war here in the usa and if you think im deluded, better hear me now.
the patriot act calls anyone who goes against the governemtn a terrorist, it does not specify arab, jew, christians, nothing.
Many camps are set up like german camps long ago for your new relocation if you dont abide.

It's really ironic. The world is complaining about America's involvement in Iraq but we are expected to be involved with this Lebanon/Isreal thing. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't both in the middle east?

Definitely not. (I'm an isolationist.)

George Washington warned about foreign entanglements. We should just stay out of this entire mess altogether.

Our military is supposed to be for DEFENSE, not nation-building.
