Egg.

Lets say that the theory of evolution is correct. Each generation's offspring are slightly different than their parents. Then eventually a new species develops--in this case the chicken. At an infinitessimal level then, the animal that laid the egg, was not as much of a 'chicken' as the animal that came out of the egg. In the evolution of the chicken, the egg represents a more "modern" chicken (and thats what we are talking about, modern chickens, not prehistoric ones).

From a biblical god related standpoint one would say the Chicken came first, with the evidence being that if god could create Adam and Eve like that, why not a chicken.

From a non biblical stand point one would say that a dinosaur, or prehistoric creature, somewhere along the line had a "mutated egg" that came out as something like a chicken and with that gene grew to be the chicken we all know and love today.

God created the chicken to lay the egg... then a male chicken fertilizes the egg and hatches a chicken

Obviously the chicken. Those who say the egg just are not thinking it out.

I feel that the chicken comes first ,for the bible talks about in Genesis about the creation of the world and all the life in it. It mentions the birds and various other animals, but no eggs..
