Entirely depends on what games are more appealing to you. I myself love my xbox 360 when i get the chance to use it. Its cheaper than a ps3 and that graphics will be no different than those of a ps3. A lot of games are coming out on both platforms so if your a metalgear, or granturismo person get a ps3, otherwise a xbox 360 will suit you fine. I think microsoft have done well with the 360 having many original ideas with the xbox live system. Sony are basing theirs on xbox live simply because its a good system. Plus Halo3 and Gears of War. Whatever choice it shall be a good one.

Let me put it this way...
I have a 360 and i cant wait for the PS3 to be realised.
The 360 may have hit the shops earlier, but the PS3 is by far the better console, it already has a wider selection of games from a large selection of game studios, a huge installed user base, and spec for spec, the PS3 is at least twice the power of the 360.

Wait for the ps3 to come out, then buy a 360. The day the ps3 comes out microsoft will lower the price of the 360.

Wait for PS3, it will use blue-ray technology. This will come into it's own with HD disks.
Also, I have a friend with an xbox 360, after serious playing sessions it overheats. He was told by the support line that he should tie something to all four top corners, and suspend it under a table to allow air all around !!!!!!

ps3 is going to cost $500 for the basic package. it will include a blue disc reader, and blue disc readers cost $600, so it's a bargain.
the 360 also doesnt have the over heating problem any more so now is a good time to get it. it's also $300 for the basic package. i love the 360, and i probably wont get the ps3.

PS3 will be in short supply because the chips are difficult to make. So expect to pay way over retail for a long time.
